King Abdullah II of Jordan stressed the urgent need to open humanitarian corridors for the entry of medical and relief aid into the Gaza Strip during his meeting today with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. He also emphasized the importance of protecting civilians and halting the escalation and war in Gaza.
The Jordanian king warned against obstructing the work of international organizations in Gaza, allowing them to fulfill their humanitarian duties. He highlighted the importance of intensifying international efforts to halt the escalation in Gaza and its surroundings and to prevent the deterioration and expansion of the situation to the West Bank.
He cautioned against any attempt to displace Palestinians from all Palestinian territories or to cause their displacement. He stressed the importance of not transferring the crisis to neighboring countries and exacerbating the refugee issue while rejecting the policy of collective punishment towards the residents of the Gaza Strip.
King Abdullah II reiterated the need to build a political horizon to ensure opportunities for achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution. He emphasized the importance of preserving the historical and legal status of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
