Amman, King Abdullah II of Jordan on Tuesday reiterated his calls for an immediate ceasefire and a sustainable delivery of humanitarian, relief and medical aid to the Gaza Strip. This came during talks he held with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who is visiting Amman. King Abdullah II demanded an immediate action to stop the humanitarian catastrophe and protect innocent civilians in the war-torn enclave, warning of a looming military operation in Rafah, and of the disastrous repercussions of the ongoing war in Gaza that may spillover in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and the entire region. He stressed the need to press on unwavering support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) as a lifeline for the population and the refugees in the Gaza Strip. He also highlighted the importance of the US role in creating a political horizon to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, as the only way to attain security in the entire region.
