Khasawneh condemns Israeli attacks in occupied West Bank

Amman: Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh Wednesday condemned the Israeli attacks and "dangerous" escalation in Jenin, Tubas, Tulkarm and the Nour Shams camp in the occupied Palestinian West Bank. Khasawneh said in a Cabinet session, "The aggressive behaviour constitutes a flagrant violation of the duties imposed on Israel as the occupying power in the West Bank and is added to the record of shame of Israeli violations of the international law system, international humanitarian law and the laws regulating the duties of forces as Israel is the occupying power in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip." Khasawneh added that the Israeli violations constitute a "decline that has no parallel in human values in history, and expresses a crisis of a group of extremists who deal with politics in the Israeli political scene and unfortunately lead the region to more escalation and tension." He said, "Our position is clear and firm in its complete and absolute rejection of any measures that would impose a reality linked to mov ing the population outside the Gaza Strip, outside the West Bank and outside occupied Palestine in any direction, and we consider this a red line that we reiterate once again." He added, "Irresponsible and dangerous statements were issued by some ministers working in the Israeli government, including sovereign ministers, talking about the migration and displacement of the people and residents of the West Bank. "In this regard, we say that all our options are open, including resorting to international justice and many of the means available to us against such individuals and such behaviour and conduct and subjecting many of these issues to reviews that are fully consistent with our commitment first to peace as a strategic option and peace based on realising the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, non-aggression and leading to the embodiment of the two-state solution which respects the system of international law and international humanitarian law and respects the inherent right of the Palestinian peo ple to self-determination and the establishment of an independent, fully sovereign Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital." Khasawneh renewed the "clear and explicit condemnation of the Israeli violations and attacks and the shameful, ongoing and escalating Israeli aggressive behaviour." He noted the efforts led by His Majesty King Abdullah II to stop the Israeli war and establish a political path that guarantees the two-state solution. Source: Jordan News Agency
