Amman: Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken Wednesday held telephone talks on the "grave" escalation in the region and prevent a spillover. Safadi said stopping the Israeli war on Gaza "must be a priority," adding that the continuation of the war "is the cause of the dangerous escalation that threatens regional and international security and peace." Safadi condemned the assassination of the head of Hamas's political bureau Ismael Haniyeh, describing the assassination as a "heinous crime," a violation of international law and a dangerous escalation. He urged immediate and effective actions to stop the Israeli war and measures that would lead to tension and escalation. He called for stopping illegal Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank and its siege of the Palestinian people, their leadership and institutions. Source: Jordan News Agency
