Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi Tuesday held discussions over the phone on the Middle East escalation due to Israel's war on Gaza and violations of international law. Safadi and Wang Yi discussed the fallout of the assassination of the chief of the political bureau of the Palestinian group Hamas, Ismael Haniyeh, both condemning the assassination as a violation of international law and Iran's sovereignty. The top diplomats said ending the Israeli war on Gaza is key to stymieing escalation and a potential regional war. Wang Yi said China supports the Palestinians' right to freedom and statehood on their national soil based on the two-state solution. Safadi praised China for supporting the Palestinians and condemning the Israeli war on Gaza. Source: Jordan News Agency
