Amman: The Crown Prince Foundation (CPF) announced on Monday the participation of a Jordanian youth delegation in the 7th International Universities Debating Championship in Arabic, hosted by QatarDebate in Doha. This participation marks the implementation of a strategic partnership between CPF and QatarDebate, aimed at promoting the art and culture of debating among young people. CPF stated that four Jordanian teams competed after emerging victorious in a national university debate championship earlier this year, organized by Al Hussein Technical University. The teams represented Middle East University, Luminus Technical University College, Yarmouk University, and Al-Ahliyya Amman University. These teams competed against 100 others from 50 countries, securing spots in the quarter-finals, marking a historic achievement for Jordan in world debate championships. Additionally, three Jordanian students secured top positions among the tournament's best speakers, competing against 350 debaters. Anas Akkawi from Al-Ahliyya Amman University secured second place, while Shahad Qatabi and Carmel Madi from Middle East University secured fifth and sixth places respectively. Over 15 Jordanian arbitrators participated in the tournament, with some chairing rounds, including the final debate session for non-Arabic speakers, chaired by international arbitrator Abdul Rahman Al-Fityani. They also contributed to the tournament's final arbitration committee alongside international arbitrator Siwar Al-Qasim. Jordanian Ambassador to Qatar, Zaid Lawzi, congratulated the delegation on their achievement during a meeting following the tournament's conclusion, encouraging them to continue honing their skills and knowledge.
