The Jordanian Monarch, King Abdullah II, stressed that Jordan will not be an alternative homeland for the Palestinians and will not accept their forced displacement, commenting on calls by "extremists" in Israel to displace the Palestinians and settle them in Jordan. King Abdullah said in a speech before the United Nations General Assembly: "The time has come to ensure the protection of the Palestinian people, and the moral duty requires the international community to adopt a mechanism to protect them in all occupied territories." He added: "This would provide protection for the Palestinians and Israelis from extremists who are pushing our region to the brink of all-out war, including extremists who constantly promote Jordan as an alternative homeland (for the Palestinians), so I will be very clear, this will never happen and we will never accept the forced displacement of the Palestinians, as this is a war crime." Earlier, Jordanian King Abdullah II said that Jordan is ready to respond firmly to any atte mpts to undermine its sovereignty. King Abdullah II stressed, in statements reported by the Jordanian News Agency "Petra" during his visit to the city of Jerash, "Jordan's readiness to respond firmly to any attempts to undermine its sovereignty, whether by settling scores through Jordan or by blowing up the situation in the West Bank and Al-Quds."
