Jordanian King Abdullah II confirmed on Tuesday that the international humanitarian response in Gaza is far below what is required, and that aid deliveries keep facing obstacles. He stressed in his speech at the main session of the "Gaza Emergency Humanitarian Response Conference" which is hosted by Jordan in the Dead Sea, that delivering humanitarian aid cannot wait for a ceasefire, nor should it be subjected to any political agenda. The King said that Gazans are facing death and destruction on levels that have never been higher before, as well as the threat of famine, stressing that Gazans are not looking for words and promises but actions instead. He called for finding a coordination mechanism with all parties on the ground, that it would be essential for the relief agencies to work, organize, and perform their duties safely and adequately, stressing that the land route for delivering aid to Gaza is the most effective one. Jordan, Egypt and the United Nations, aiming to identify ways to strengthen the international community's response to the humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip, are jointly organizing the conference.
