Amman: A delegation from the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) attending the Arab-German Business Forum in Berlin engaged in discussions with Omani Minister of Economy, Said Al Saqri, on advancing trade and investment relations between Jordan and Oman. In a statement issued on Thursday, the JCC highlighted that Saqri emphasized the longstanding historical ties between the two nations. He underscored the significance of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq's recent visit to Jordan and his meeting with His Majesty King Abdullah II as pivotal in strengthening bilateral relations. Saqri advocated for building on the outcomes of the Sultan's visit to enhance economic and trade ties, encouraging the private sector to engage in increased networking and reciprocal visits to capitalize on mutual economic opportunities. The discussions pointed to numerous sectors ripe for increased trade and joint investments, including logistics, tourism, pharmaceuticals, and food security. Saqri highlighted the potential for knowledge and expe rtise exchange between the two countries in these key areas. The Omani delegation, comprising representatives from both the public and private sectors, presented an overview of Oman's investment climate, its economic vision for 2040, and specific areas for trade and investment collaboration. Khalil Haj Tawfiq, Chairman of the JCC, highlighted the importance of the cooperation agreement signed with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry during a recent Omani delegation visit to Jordan. He stressed the need to leverage this agreement to explore new opportunities, enhance cooperation, and take advantage of free trade agreements and the strategic geographical locations of both countries. Haj Tawfiq announced that the JCC plans to organize a visit for a Jordanian economic delegation to Oman this summer. The delegation will include representatives from sectors of interest to Oman, aiming to build partnerships and move towards comprehensive economic integration between the two nations.
