An official military source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces announced that the Eastern Military District thwarted an attempt to infiltrate and smuggle large quantities of narcotic substances coming from Syria. The source added that the clash with the smugglers resulted in the death of one of them, the injury of others, and their retreat deep into Syria. The seized items were transferred to the competent authorities. He stressed that "the Jordanian Armed Forces are working to harness all capabilities and capabilities to strike with an iron fist anyone who dares to tamper with Jordanian national security." The source stated that the smuggling operation was thwarted in coordination with the military security services and the Jordanian Anti-Narcotics Administration.
