SANTANDER: Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, discussed during a meeting today with Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, the need to launch an effective international movement to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, end the humanitarian disaster there and implement the two-state solution, as the only way to achieve a just, lasting and comprehensive peace. The two sides discussed the next steps of mobilizing an international position for the recognition of the Palestinian state. Safadi valued Spain's recognition of a Palestinian state. Safadi stressed Jordan's unwavering positions regarding the necessity to end the aggression on Gaza, ensure sufficient and sustainable entry of humanitarian aid throughout the entire Strip and launch an action plan to implement the two-state solution, stressing that the alternative to the two-state solution is the one-state scenario, which would perpetuate apartheid. Safadi said: "The Arab countries presented the Arab Peace Initiative in 2002, and their vision is clear; there is no alternative to the two-state solution. However, there is currently no partner for peace in Israel.' He stressed that any talks about the day after the war in Gaza must be within the framework of a comprehensive plan to end the conflict at its roots, end the occupation and embody an independent Palestinian state living alongside Israel in security and peace. Safadi warned of the risk of a conflict spillover, stressing the need to adhere to UN Security Council Resolution 1701. Source: Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA
