Ministers of State for Economic Affairs, Muhannad Shehadeh, Investment Mothanna Gharaibeh, and Transport Wissam Tahtamouni, discussed on Wednesday with the Chairman of the Iraqi Business Council (IBC) in Jordan, Dr. Majid Saedi , and the accompanying delegation, ways to enhance economic relations, increase investments and exchange businesspeople's visits. Speaking at the meeting, Shehadeh stressed the government's "openness" to all steps that would facilitate trade, economic and investment ties with various Arab countries, especially Iraq, which has "deep-rooted" relations with the Kingdom, based on the directives of the two countries' leaderships. Shehadeh presented the "major" projects that the Kingdom is seeking to implement in various fields to provide a "better" life for Jordanians, achieve sustainable development and enhance economic growth. Shehadeh pointed to the importance of strengthening relations with the private sector, as an "important" driver to the national economy. Meanwhile, Tahtamouni r eferred to commonalities in the Jordanian-Iraqi transportation sector, in terms of air transport, land freight, and ports. Tahtamouni also stressed the "readiness" to provide all necessary facilities in this regard, which would enrich the Jordanian-Iraqi economic relations, especially in light of the region's current circumstances. For his part, Gharaibeh stressed the need to exploit the two countries' potential opportunities and take all necessary measures to enhance establishment of projects in various economic sectors and use "successful" business models in investment fields. Saedi called for supporting and facilitating work of Iraqi investors, especially since Iraqi investments in the Kingdom are "large and diverse," in terms of existing projects and deposits, which confirms the importance of the Jordanian market and its activity. The attendees went over ways to overcome the challenges facing joint trade exchange, sustainability of investment projects, investment promotion in both countries, and stabi lity of legislation, regulations, and instructions, according to a joint statement.
