Jordan: Jordan Monday strongly condemned recent provocative remarks made by Israeli Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, in which he called for Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank and the expansion of colonies, according to Jordan's Petra news agency. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates denounced Smotrich's remarks as a clear violation of international law and the Palestinian right to an independent state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Ministry spokesperson, Sufian Qudah, reaffirmed Jordan's firm opposition to these provocative remarks, stressing that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories. Qudah emphasized that such remarks and actions violate international law and UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334, which condemns Israeli activities that alter the demographic and legal status of the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem. Qudah urged the international community to fulfill its legal and moral obligations, calling for accountability for Israel's actions in Gaza, Lebanon and the West Bank, and for the protection of Palestinian rights to an independent state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
