Baghdad: The Joint Operations Command announced the arrest of the most important terrorist detachments, including a dangerous leader within the Eastern Salah al-Din Operations Command sector. The command stated in a statement, 'Based on the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces regarding the importance of coordinating security and intelligence work, and under the supervision and planning of the Joint Operations Command, the Iraqi National Intelligence Service, in conjunction with the Counter-Terrorism Service, carried out a qualitative operation that was based on accurate information and activating the intelligence effort with the targeting cell of the Joint Operations Command in Balkana Mountains in Tuz Khurmatu district within the operations sector east of Salah al-Din. It added, "The heroes in these two agencies began monitoring and following up on the terrorist nests in the above area and besieged the most important terrorist detachment within this sector, and in coordination with the brave air hawks, two air strikes were carried out by F-16 aircraft that destroyed this tunnel as well as the rest of the dens, which led to the killing of all members of the terrorist detachment, the number of which is estimated according to preliminary information to be 7 terrorists, including a dangerous leader.' It pointed out that "this operation confirms the level of coordination and joint intelligence cooperation between the Iraqi security and intelligence services, which are the ones who have the initiative in eliminating the remnants of terrorism who have no longer found refuge throughout Iraqi territory.
