QALQILYA: An Israeli occupation soldier today posted a video on social media of him and other soldiers assaulting and detaining a Palestinian child in the city of Qalqilya. A video posted by the soldier shows him and other soldiers raiding the Melhem family home in the Dawoud neighborhood, in the city of Qalqilya, and breaking down the front door of a building with sledgehammers, before detaining a minor boy who was identified as Majed Melhem. The video also included a picture of the boy, Melhem, after he was blindfolded and handcuffed by the soldiers. In the early hours of the morning on Thursday, Israeli forces detained ten Palestinians, including Melhem, during a military raid into several neighborhoods in the city of Qalqilya. Since the onset of the Israeli occupation's all-out aggression on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank in October 2023, several videos posted by Israeli soldiers on their social media accounts showed Palestinians being assaulted, abused and detained. The v ideos also showed soldiers tampering with the contents of the homes they have broken into or destroyed in the Gaza Strip, taking advantage of the lack of accountability, the impunity they enjoy and the international silence that gives them the green light to continue their crimes against Palestinians. The videos also included incitement to kill Palestinians, as well as profanities and curses towards Palestinians. Since the beginning of the aggression, the occupation forces detained over 9,300 Palestinians, including 635 minors, from the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem. According to the Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission, thousands of Palestinians who were detained by the Israeli occupation in Gaza are subjected to the crime of forced disappearance.
