Ramallah: Israeli occupation forces shot and injured a Palestinian in Shuqba town, west of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, on Monday evening, according to local sources. The incident involved Abdul-Rahman Thabet, who was driving his motorbike when he was shot in the abdomen by the forces.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Thabet, 17, was rushed to a hospital for urgent treatment following the shooting. The report indicates that the soldiers, who were heavily armed, opened fire on Thabet and subsequently beat him, despite there being no confrontations at the time.
The occupation forces are known to frequently raid Palestinian houses across the West Bank. These raids occur almost daily under the pretext of searching for 'wanted' Palestinians, often leading to clashes with the residents. The operations are carried out without search warrants, leveraging the military's broad arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law, army commanders possess full executive, legislative, and judicial authority over the 3 million Palestinians residing in the West Bank. This legal framework leaves Palestinians without any influence over how this authority is administered.
