Israeli Forces Issue Demolition Order Against Masafer Yatta School

Hebron: Israeli forces have issued a demolition order against a school in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron. The order targets the Palestine Mixed Elementary School, marking another incident in the region's ongoing tensions.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the demolition order was delivered by the occupation forces, raising concerns about the impact on education in the area. The region has witnessed significant disruptions and violence affecting educational institutions and students.

In recent statistics provided by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the scale of violations against education in both Gaza and the West Bank has been documented. Between October 7, 2023, and February 11, 2025, over 12,467 students were killed, and 20,311 others were injured in Gaza. In the West Bank, 91 students lost their lives, 563 were injured, and 313 were detained.

The statistics further reveal the toll on educational staff, with 569 members killed and 2,703 injured in Gaza. The West Bank saw three staff members killed, 18 injured, and more than 157 detained. The destruction extended to infrastructure, with 111 schools completely destroyed and 241 severely damaged in Gaza. In the West Bank, 117 schools were reported damaged.

Higher education institutions also suffered, with 20 in Gaza facing severe damage. Fifty-one university buildings were destroyed, and 57 partially damaged. In the West Bank, seven universities and colleges were raided and vandalized multiple times during the same period.
