Nablus: Israeli occupation forces on Monday sealed off the main entrance of Al-Lubban Ash-Sharqiyya village, south of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus. The soldiers closed the main entrance with earth mounds, as well as three secondary roads, thereby restricting the villagers' movement in and out of the area.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the occupation forces had already closed the metal gate installed at the primary entrance of the village. Additionally, army bulldozers blocked minor roads leading to Turmusayya village, north of Ramallah. This comes in the wake of the main entrance's metal gate being blocked for several days.
The Israeli military measures have intensified across the occupied West Bank, following the release of the first batch of Palestinian prisoners as part of the Gaza ceasefire in January. This has led to the dismemberment and isolation of cities and governorates, utilizing military gates, barriers, and concrete blocks.
Palestinians' freedom of movement has been significantly restricted within the occupied West Bank. This is due to a network of approximately 898 fixed and flying checkpoints and gates, including 18 gates installed since the start of 2025 and 146 others installed after October 7, 2023. The infrastructure also includes settler-only roads, over 200 military bases, and various other physical barriers.
The Israeli military actions coincide with ongoing attacks by Israeli settlers across the West Bank, aimed at displacing Palestinians and seizing their lands for the construction of illegal Jewish colonies. These closures and other measures, ostensibly for security purposes, are seen as efforts to solidify Israel's 58-year military occupation of the West Bank and its settler colonial agenda, often enforced with routine and deadly violence against Palestinians.
