Israeli Forces Kill Palestinian and Injure Another in Gaza Strip

Gaza city: Israeli occupation forces on Tuesday evening killed a Palestinian civilian and injured another in the Gaza Strip, according to medical sources. They said that an Israeli army sniper opened fire at the al-Atatra area in Beit Lahia town in the northern Strip, killing a 35-year-old civilian.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Israeli army soldiers also opened fire at the tents housing displaced people to the east of Deir al-Balah in the central Strip, injuring a minor. Medical sources reported that the body of the slain Palestinian and six casualties were admitted to hospitals across the Strip in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of Palestinians killed and injured by Israeli forces since the Gaza ceasefire agreement went into effect on October 11 to 377 and 987, respectively. Additionally, the bodies of 626 slain Palestinians have been retrieved from the rubble during the same period.

Meanwhile, WAFA correspondents reported that the occupation forces blew up several residential buildings to the east of Jabalia and in Beit Lahia in the northern enclave. Israeli airstrikes targeted Eastern Gaza City, and artillery shelling pounded Eastern Khan Younes and to the north of Rafah City in the southern enclave. The occupation forces also destroyed a residential complex in the Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, with the sound of explosions heard throughout the city as plumes of smoke rose into the sky.

Israel has waged a military onslaught on the Strip since October 2023, resulting in the deaths of 70,366 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring 171,064 others. Furthermore, at least 10,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.

The Israeli aggression has led to the forceful displacement of nearly two million people from across the Gaza Strip, with the vast majority of the displaced forced into the densely crowded southern city of Rafah near the border with Egypt. This has become Palestine's largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.
