Israeli Forces Issue Demolition Notice for Palestinian Home in Jayyous

Qalqilia: Israeli occupation forces on Thursday delivered a demolition notice for a Palestinian-owned house in the town of Jayyous, east of Qalqilia, located behind the separation wall. The notice has raised concerns over the impending displacement of a family residing in the house.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Munif Nazzal, who oversees colonial settlement affairs in the Qalqilia Governorate, reported that Israeli forces handed the demolition notice to a local resident. The 165-square-meter house, situated near the resident's agricultural land and the Tzufim colonial settlement, is being targeted due to claims of unlicensed construction and its proximity to the settlement.

The house currently shelters a family of 17 people, including 10 children, three men and their spouses, as well as an elderly grandmother. The demolition, if carried out, would displace the family, adding to the ongoing tensions in the area.

This decision follows an initial demolition notice issued in 2015, which was temporarily halted after a legal objection. However, the notice has been reinstated recently by Israeli authorities, once again placing the family at risk of losing their home.
