Israeli Colonists Assault Palestinian Family in Bethlehem-Area Village

Bethlehem: Israeli colonists brutally assaulted a Palestinian woman and her son in the village of Al-Minya, east of Bethlehem, according to local sources. The head of the village council, Zayed Kawazbeh, reported that a group of colonists infiltrated the western region of the village and raided the home of the Abu Khalil Jabarin family.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, during the raid, the colonists attacked 50-year-old Siham Jabarin and her son Raafat, necessitating their transfer to a hospital for medical care. Further compounding the distress, the occupation forces detained the family's eldest son, Khalil Jabarin, during the incursion.

Kawazbeh highlighted the role of Israeli troops in providing protection to colonists during such assaults on Palestinian residents and their properties, suggesting a systematic effort aimed at displacing the native inhabitants from their lands. He stressed that the village of Al-Minya, home to around 3,000 people, has been suffering from ongoing colonist aggressions. These include the blockage of its primary entrances from both the western and southern sides, alongside the closure of the local high school since the onset of these hostilities.

He further noted that colonists have previously expropriated around 250 dunams of Al-Minya's land to construct a solar power facility, which supplies electricity to the Ma'ale Amos and Ibi Hanahel illegal outposts, both of which are established on Kisan lands. Kawazbeh called on the international community and human rights organizations to take urgent action to stop the attacks perpetrated by the occupation forces and their colonists, which have effectively besieged the village and disrupted the lives of its residents.
