Jerusalem: The Palestinian Olympic Committee has strongly condemned the demolition of the "Goal Plus" sports academy by Israeli authorities, situated west of Jerusalem. The committee criticized the action as part of ongoing violations against Palestinian sports, emphasizing its negative impact on the community. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the demolished academy included a grass football field, a gym designed for individual sports, and a park intended for both visitors and members. It was built to accommodate a diverse group of individuals from Jerusalem and its surrounding areas, providing facilities for various age groups to participate in sports activities. The Palestinian Olympic Committee highlighted the demolition of the academy as part of a broader pattern of actions by Israeli authorities. Since October 7, 2023, a total of 83 sports facilities have been destroyed in the region, with 64 located in Gaza and 19 in the West Bank. The committee views these actions as ongoing violations against Palestinian sports infrastructure and community engagement.
