RAMALLAH: Presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said today that Israel, with its continued aggression against the Palestinian people, has brought itself and the region into a state of war that may never end, stressing the need for everyone to bear their responsibilities to stop this aggression. He told Voice of Palestine radio that President Mahmoud Abbas, from the first moment of the aggression against Gaza, demanded that it be stopped immediately, as well as that the raids on West Bank cities be stopped. He stressed that the Palestinian position is clear on the necessity of immediately stopping the aggression against Gaza, and calling for Israel to be held accountable. Abu Rudeineh said the Palestinian people have all the legal means to defend their rights and achievements, stressing that the people are staying and steadfast on their land and that Jerusalem is their first compass without which there will be no peace for anyone in the region. He reiterated that the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and Gaza are one Palestinian land and the occupation of all of this land must be ended. The presidential spokesman said statements by US President Joe Biden and his criticism of the composition of the Israeli government must be implemented and not remain mere statements, indicating that the US administration cannot talk about the two-state solution without working to oblige Israel to implement it. He said that since assuming the presidency, Biden has not implemented any of his promises. Abu Rudeineh stressed that without completely ending the occupation in accordance with international legitimacy there will be neither security nor peace, indicating that peace will not come at any price and that Israel will not be able to impose its views on the Palestinian people.
