Jeddah: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, said on Wednesday that Israel bears full responsibility for the dangerous escalation that is pushing the region towards the abyss of a regional war, which will inevitably trigger more tension and conflict. Speaking at the emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Safadi stressed that the escalation "stops by stopping its cause, which is the brutal and barbaric Israeli aggression on Gaza, which has been raging for ten months, without any deterrent international action that curbs Israeli aggression, stops the killing of innocent people, ends the violation of the rights of the Palestinian people, punishes the perpetrators of war crimes, and protects what remains of the credibility of international law, the application of which has proven to be selective." "The escalation is worsening because the international community and its institutions have allowed an Israeli government led by extremism an d racism to impose murder, destruction and devastation on Palestine, violate international law, and infringe on the sovereignty and security of states," Safadi said. "Israel is the one who kills, destroys, causes destruction, and escalates, and all those who want to de-escalate and protect regional and international peace and security from its catastrophic consequences, must immediately put pressure on Israel," he added.
