The value of certificates of origin issued by the Irbid Chamber of Industry in August reached $119.4 million, marking a 6.7% decrease from $128.1 million in the same month last year. According to the chamber's report, 1,454 certificates of origin were issued last month, up from 1,332 during the same period last year. The knitwear and leather sector remained the leading export sector, contributing $107.784 million, followed by therapeutic industries and medical supplies at $4.292 million, and food, agricultural, and livestock supplies at $2.992 million. Other exports were spread across sectors including chemical industries, cosmetics, engineering, electrical, plastic and rubber industries, packaging, paper, and mining industries. Al-Hassan Industrial Estate accounted for over 97% of the exports, with Cyber City contributing just under 2%. Hani Abu Hassan, Chairperson of the Chamber, attributed the overall decline in export value to an 8% drop in leather and textile industries exports. However, a 58% growt h in therapeutic industries and medical supplies exports helped mitigate the decline. He also noted that exports under the Arab agreement grew by 14.5% to $8.3 million, with 85% of Irbid's industrial exports tied to trade agreements. Source:Jordan News Agency
