Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa Al Sudani, met in Baghdad on Monday, with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Middle East Dan Shapiro and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, Al Sudani stressed the need for a resolute position on the relentless Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, and the importance of de-escalation and preventing conflict expansion. The two sides discussed the situation in the region and the developments of the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip. Also, Al Sudani underlined the suffering of the Palestinian people and the difficulty of getting humanitarian assistance and relief aid into Gaza due to the stringent siege imposed there. They also discussed the measures required to end the mission of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS and reinforcing bilateral relationship between Iraq and the United States.
