Iraqi PM And His Tunisian Counterpart Chair Extensive Talks Between The Two Countries’ Delegations

Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and Tunisian Prime Minister Kamal al-Madouri headed the delegations of the two countries in the extensive meetings held in the capital, Tunis, on Wednesday. The ministers of the two countries reviewed the joint cooperation files, which concern the sectors of oil, transportation, tourism, education, culture and sports. The memoranda of understanding reached by the joint committee meetings in various fields and their implementation mechanisms were also discussed, in addition to discussing holding a new session of the Iraqi-Tunisian Joint Business Council. During the meeting, al-Sudani stressed, according to a statement by his media office, the Iraqi government's keenness on the success of the new Tunisian government, indicating that his visit expresses the will and serious desire to strengthen relations, and the aspiration to build strong relations with Tunisia, praising the Tunisian government's initiative to facilitate the granting of entry visas to Iraqis, which is an important step to strengthen relations. Al-Sudani explained, according to the statement, that Iraq is a democratic country that relies on the separation of powers, and is currently witnessing a great state of security and stability that has resulted in an unprecedented development movement, pointing to the victory achieved over terrorism, which has strengthened the government's efforts to proceed with implementing its development programs and plans, and providing an integrated investment environment, attractive to economic partnerships. For his part, the Tunisian Prime Minister pointed to Iraq's success in achieving its security and restoring the pace of development, and praised the pioneering development road project that will transform Iraq into a center for global trade, as well as the government's steps in creating a successful investment environment through an ambitious reform program. The meeting discussed the challenges facing the region, and the identical position between Iraq and Tunisia regard ing the continued Zionist aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
