The Chairman of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Naeem Al-Aboudi, signed a technical cooperation agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency for the years 2024-2029. A statement by the Ministry said: "The agreement, which was signed by the Chairman of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission Naeem Al-Aboudi and Hua Liu, Head of the Technical Cooperation Department at the International Atomic Energy Agency, includes many aspects related to the use of atoms for peace in the fields of nuclear medicine, agriculture, food security, energy production, radioactive waste management, liquidation of nuclear facilities and other scientifically related axes to the peaceful and safe uses of nuclear technology." Al-Aboudi, who is participating in the activities of the 68th conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency, stressed the keenness of Iraq and its institutions to develop and strengthen the contexts of understanding and joint coordination with the International Agency in specialized scientific fields.
