Iran's UN envoy Amir Saeed Erfani warned against any targeting of his country's diplomatic headquarters, stressing that Tehran will respond to any such attack. In a letter to the UN Security Council a day after the assassination of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah in a Zionist raid, Erfani said that Iran will not tolerate any aggression against its diplomatic headquarters and representatives. He added that "Iran will not hesitate to exercise its inherent rights under international law to take all measures to defend its vital national and security interests." The Iranian envoy called on the Security Council to hold an emergency meeting to discuss what he described as the Zionist terrorist aggression and condemn its actions in Lebanon in the strongest terms.
