The International Date Council (IDC) welcomed the State of Qatar's membership, emphasizing that this represents a significant value to the council due to Qatar's scientific and technological advancements in palm cultivation and date quality improvement. The council appreciated the State of Qatar's government's interest in the palm and date sector, recognizing its importance as a strategic crop and a product with exceptional nutritional value, as well as significant economic, social, environmental, and cultural importance. The council highlighted the role of the palm and date sector in achieving economic and social development, environmental protection, and improving the income and living standards of workers in the field, in addition to enhancing food security in rural areas. International Date Council comprises 15 countries, along with numerous international, regional, and local organizations concerned with agriculture and the date sector. The council aims to promote cooperation among member states to dev elop the date sector, implement activities that require joint efforts to address the challenges facing the sector, tackle research and production technology issues, and enhance capacities to achieve sustainable development of dates both regionally and globally.
