The Ministry of Interior confirmed its commitment to confining weapons to the state, while revealing the axes of its work to implement this. The Director of the Department of Relations and Media at the Ministry of Interior, Major General Khaled Al-Mahna, stated in a statement to the Iraqi National News Agency / NINA /, that "confining weapons to the state is an essential part of the government program, and therefore the Ministry formed a high-level committee headed by the Minister of Interior, which developed a technical strategy to work on confining weapons according to 3 axes, the first of which is organizing the presence of weapons in the environment and circles of Iraqi society by allowing the possession of one weapon for each Iraqi family." He added, "There are other stages that will proceed in succession, including purchasing medium weapons, collecting them and recovering them by the competent security authorities through a series of joint operations and campaigns, leading to the implementation of a c omprehensive and broad security operation to confiscate all unlicensed weapons and take all legal measures against their holders," indicating that "the implementation of all these stages will coincide with a broad community media campaign carried out by the Ministry of Interior in cooperation with the media and journalists to educate citizens and community circles about the importance of confiscating weapons with the state and government."
