The Intelligence Agency arrested three people accused of belonging to an international network for trafficking in human organs in Najaf. The Agency stated in a statement that its detachments specialized in combating organized crime in Najaf Governorate had monitored accurate intelligence information indicating the presence of defendants who have connections with people in neighboring countries, trading in human organs (kidneys) in exchange for sums of money. It added: 'An intelligence work team was immediately formed and three defendants from the network were arrested after obtaining due judicial approvals. Upon investigation, they explicitly admitted their membership in an international network for trafficking in human organs, and they were referred to the competent judicial authorities.'
