The Federal Integrity Commission announced today, Friday, the thwarting of an attempt to bring prohibited materials into Iraq, and arrested the employees responsible for that at Al-Sheeb border crossing. The commission stated in a statement, 'The work team composed of the commission's investigation office in Maysan, which moved to Al-Sheeb border crossing in the governorate, was able, after follow-up, monitoring and investigation, to thwart an attempt to bring in 9 vehicles loaded with materials prohibited from import, after they were seized at the port.' It stated, 'Three defendants were arrested. They are members of the vehicles inspection committee that granted approval to issue customs permits for materials prohibited from being brought into the country.' The Commission pointed out that 'during the operation, which was carried out based on a judicial note, the original transactions for which customs declarations were issued were seized and presented with the defendants before the judge of the investig ative court specialized in looking into integrity cases in Maysan, who in turn decided to arrest the defendants, based on the provisions of Article 340 of the Penal Code.
