The Federal Integrity Commission announced the recovery of one of the fugitives from the Egyptian authorities, indicating that the convict who was recovered requested and received a bribe while working in the Ministry of Finance. The Government Media and Communication Office indicated in a statement that the convict (Fouad Mukhlef Ali Shihab) had a conviction decision issued against him by the Iraqi judiciary, explaining that the Recovery Department organized a recovery file against him; For committing the crime of requesting and receiving a bribe during his work period in the General Authority of Customs / Shalamcheh Border Port, He noted that the department sent the bulletins and arrest warrants issued against him to the Presidency of the Public Prosecution, which in turn sent them to the Arab and International Police Directorate; to issue a (red notice and search broadcast) against him, where he was arrested in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The office added that the Recovery Department sent the file, whic h it organized against the convict, via diplomatic channels to the Egyptian authorities through the Public Prosecution Office, praising the high level of cooperation and coordination with the Arab and International Police Directorate at the Ministry of Interior. He explained that the Basra Criminal Court, which is specialized in examining integrity cases, after reviewing the evidence obtained in the case, represented by the statement of the legal representative of the Southern Region Customs Directorate, in addition to the evidence of the convict's escape, found it sufficient and convincing evidence to convict him, so it decided to convict him and sentence him in absentia to imprisonment for a period of (6) years and a fine, based on the provisions of Resolution (160/Second of 1983) as amended. The office stated that the operation to recover the fugitive defendant is the sixth carried out by the authority during the current year 2024, and the third during the current month of June, after the recovery of def endants from Belarus, Malaysia, Egypt, and Turkey via the Kurdistan Region.
