The Ministry of Health in the Kurdistan Regional Government announced today, Friday, the registration of a new case of hemorrhagic fever, bringing the number of infections in Kurdistan to 5. Health Spokesman Dr. Sarkar Surji said in a statement, "A young man, 18 years old, lives in Ranya district and works as a butcher, was infected with hemorrhagic fever," indicating that "the young man is currently in Shar Hospital in Sulaymaniyah and is receiving treatment, and his health condition is stable." He added: "The infection is the fifth to be recorded in the Kurdistan Region during the current year," stressing that "the cases were distributed between Duhok Governorate 2 cases and Sulaymaniyah Governorate 3 cases." Iraq has recorded 40 cases of hemorrhagic fever since the beginning of this year 2024, including 5 deaths, according to the latest announcement by the Ministry of Agriculture. Dhi Qar Governorate topped the number of cases with 15 cases, including 2 deaths, while Nineveh had 6 cases and one death, Babylon had 4 cases and one death, while Baghdad had 6 cases and one death, while Kirkuk and Kurdistan announced the recording of 6 cases of hemorrhagic fever.
