Post: India Provides US$ 2.5 Million to UNRWA for Palestinian Refugees’ Welfare

Amman: The Government of India released USD 2.5 million to the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), according to the Representative Office of India to Palestine. This contribution is part of India's annual commitment of USD 5 million for the year 2026-27, aimed at supporting the Agency's core programmes and services, including education, healthcare, and relief efforts provided to Palestinian refugees.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, during the UNRWA Advisory Commission (ADCOM) meeting held in Amman, Mahima Sikand, the Representative of India to the State of Palestine, emphasized India's ongoing support for the Agency's services to Palestinian refugees. She officially handed over the contribution to Karim Amer, the Agency's Director of Partnerships.

Karim Amer expressed appreciation to the Government of India for its steadfast support to the Agency. He highlighted India's role as the top emerging donor for UNRWA over the past three years, underscoring the significance of India's contributions to sustaining the Agency's operations and services in the region.
