The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) pledged on Friday to continue advancing its civilizational mission and meeting the aspirations of its member states in modernizing the fields of education, science, culture, and communications, in addition to promoting the values of co-existence, peace, civilizational dialogue and valuing the Islamic world patrimony. In a statement marking the 42nd anniversary of its establishment that falls in May 3, ICESCO affirmed to proceed with its endeavor in the quest for achieving the sustainable development in the Islamic world, addressing challenges posed by the rapid changes, supporting the creation of innovative and knowledge-based systems, building the capacities of women and young people for future professions, as well as providing expertise, technical counselling and corporate support in the areas of its purview. To achieve these purposes, the new ICESCO vision has been adopted stemming from the values of solidarity, innovation, tra nsparency, entrepreneurship and co-existence to further modernize its infrastructure, mechanisms of operation and projects in full coordination with the relevant entities in the member states so as to cope with the needs of each country with a special emphasis on the vulnerable segments, youth, women and children, ICESCO pointed out.
