ICC and South African Envoy Discuss Trade and Investment Cooperation.

Amman: Chairman of the Irbid Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Mohammad Shouha, and South Africa's Ambassador to Jordan, Selina Mokwena, engaged in discussions on Wednesday focusing on the development of bilateral trade and investment cooperation. During the meeting, Shouha emphasized the importance of enhancing mutual trade exchange and providing necessary facilitations to increase trade volume, thereby offering the private sector opportunities to deepen trade relations. According to Jordan News Agency, Shouha highlighted the significance of establishing Jordanian-South African trade projects and leveraging agreements that allow the export of Jordanian products without customs duties. He noted that Jordan's exports to South Africa were valued at approximately $27 million over the past year, while imports amounted to $40 million. Key exports from Jordan to South Africa include chemical industries, textile materials, appliances, metals, and food. Ambassador Mokwena acknowledged the shared positions of both countrie s on the Gaza issue and lauded Jordan's efforts in alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people through food and medical aid and field hospitals. She also highlighted the importance of expanding knowledge and trade exchange with Jordan, underscoring the investment opportunities and cooperation mechanisms available among businesspeople from both nations in economic and investment sectors. Mokwena expressed her country's desire to strengthen economic and trade relations with Jordan, aiming to increase trade exchange, enhance the exchange of expertise, transfer technology, and provide training. She also emphasized the potential for establishing investments across various sectors.
