Humanitarian Affairs Council: 33,140 families affected by floods in 14 governorates

orrential rains in several Yemeni governorates have caused the demolition of homes, camps, and infrastructure, amid civilian deaths and injuries, exacerbating the human suffering of the Yemeni people as a result of the aggression and siege. According to a preliminary report issued by the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs, from the end of July until August 15, floods in 14 governorates affected 33,140 families, most of them displaced families. The report pointed out that the Hodeida governorate is one of the most affected governorates, with the number of families affected by the floods reaching 10,494 families, including 31 deaths. The report indicated that the floods caused damage to nine thousand 686 families in Hajjah, including two thousand 800 displaced families in the Abs district, two thousand 301 families in Sa'ada, with two deaths two thousand 740 families in the Dhamar governorate, two thousand and 699 families in Sana'a governorate. It reported that the floods affected two thousand and 47 6 families in Al-Jawf, thousand and 281 families in Taiz, 226 families in Raymah, 238 families in Ibb governorate, 218 families in Al-Bayda, 351 families in Al-Mahwit, 117 families in Sana\a city, and 176 families in Amran. Concerning humanitarian response, the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation and its branches in the governorates, in coordination with humanitarian partners, continue to provide humanitarian response to affected families in several governorates. The first response report confirmed that the Council worked with many UN, international, and local organizations to provide shelter, in-kind, cash, and food assistance to 20,266 families in the affected governorates. The report stated that aid was disbursed to nine thousand 933 families in Hodeidah governorate, two thousand 667 families in Hajjah governorate, two thousand 892 families in Saada governorate, aid was disbursed to one thousand and 202 families in Ibb governorate, 118 families in Al-Bayda governorate, 162 families in Al-Jawf governorate, and shelter and in-kind assistance was disbursed to 878 families in Sanaa city. According to the report, aid was disbursed to 451 families in the Dhamar governorate, 229 families in the Raymah governorate, 258 families in the Sana'a governorate, 257 families in Al-Mahwit, 814 families in the Amran governorate and 405 families in Al-Dhalea governorate.
