Hodeida governor, Mohamed al-Qahoum, on Sunday discussed with the UN resident coordinator, Julian Harness, challenges and complications of the humanitarian situation in the Yemeni western governorate. The governor briefed the UN official on ramifications following the halt of food assistance to thousands of needy IDPs. Halt of assistances and the UN failure to honor all of its commitments to tackling the humanitarian situation, including demining and support to the national action, doubled the number of victims, Qahoum said. The UN delegate trip aims to get an idea about the humanitarian situation in Hodeida, and to meet with the local leadership and relevant officials in order to assess needs and find solutions backing the continuation of human work, the UN coordinator said.
