The Higher Council For Science And Technology (HCST) on Tuesday discussed with an Asian diplomatic delegation, comprised of the ambassadors of Thailand, Supark Prongthura; Philippines, Wilfredo Santos; Indonesia, Adi Padmo Sarono; Malaysia, Muhammad Nasri bin Abdul Rahman, and Chargé d'Affaires of Brunei, Nurunnajibah Binti Haji Adanaan, aspects of joint cooperation. During the meeting, the HCST Secretary-General, Dr. Mashhour Rifai, praised the Kingdom's "strong" relations with the ambassadors' countries, calling for consolidating cooperation ties and embracing initiatives on energy, technology, water, food and climate change projects to focus on supporting scientific research. The meeting also went over technology transfer activities, ways to market research results and innovations, initiatives to support entrepreneurship, and network researchers in Jordan with their counterparts in the ambassadors' countries, according to a HCST statement. Meanwhile, Director General of Synchrotron-light for Experiment al Science and Applications in the Middle East (SESAME) Centre, Dr. Khaled Touqan, said the centre is the first global body of excellence in scientific research in the Middle East region. Touqan also noted the centre's role in the fields of materials science research, physics, chemistry, biology, archaeology, environment, engineering, agriculture, and medical applications, welcoming all research cooperation with friendly countries. For their part, the diplomats lauded the HCST's position locally, regionally and internationally and its "vital" role in linking academic and industrial sectors, expressing their readiness for any cooperation that supports economic development with the Kingdom.
