Doha: The 2024 Conference on Prophetic Biography kicked off Wednesday under the theme "The Importance of Evidence of Prophethood in Contemporary Times," with the participation of a distinguished lineup of scholars, academics and specialists from the State of Qatar and abroad. The two-day conference is organized by Hamad Bin Khalifa Universitys College of Islamic Studies. The event aims at exploring historical and modern aspects of prophetic evidence and its relevance as proof of the Prophethood of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It will delve into the critical role of the evidence of Prophethood in shaping contemporary Islamic thought and beliefs, while addressing the challenges faced by Muslims today. It seeks to provide a comprehensive study of the significance of this field and its impact on contemporary issues. Addressing the opening session, Dr. Aisha Yousef Al Mannai, Director of the Mohammed bin Hamad Al-Thani Center for Contributions of Muslims to Civilization and Chair of the Conference, stressed the importance of the conference and its theme which evokes the noble role of the Prophet on humanity. Dr. Recep Senturk, Dean of the College of Islamic Studies at HBKU, said the conference seeks to explore the essence of faith and emphasize the importance of guidance at a time that is increasingly characterized by doubt and many epistemological and ideological challenges. The conference seeks to prove Prophethood through rational evidence that can address atheist ideas, denial of divinity and religions, Dr. Senturk added, stressing the importance of Prophethood in guiding people through divine laws that are not subject to interests and whims. The conference sessions will discuss exceptional issues in this field, most notably how to spread the Prophets biography in the modern era under the dominance of Western values, the importance of scientific approaches related to the science of evidence to confront modern waves of atheism, and others. The conference will also dedicate a session for students, providing them with opportunities to communicate with their peers and specialized experts in order to enhance their academic careers.
