Hammoudi To The Canadian Ambassador: The Govt Is Keen On Balancing Its Foreign Relations In A Way That Preserves Iraq’s Sovereignty And National Interests

Head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, Hammam Hammoudi, affirmed that Iraq is witnessing, under the government of the coordination framework, a state of national harmony among its various components, and a great effort of service achievement that has strengthened popular confidence and stability.

Hammoudi said, during his meeting with the Canadian ambassador in Baghdad, Gregory Galligan today, Thursday, that “the government is keen to balance its foreign relations in accordance with what preserves Iraq’s sovereignty and national interests and its pivotal role in building the relations of the countries of the region, considering what any country is exposed to will reflect on its neighborhood, positively or negatively.

He added, “The government is currently adopting strategic development projects, and has opened wide investment opportunities,” calling for the participation of discreet Canadian companies and for a dialogue between businessmen in the two countries, pointing to the possibility of benefiting from Canadians of Iraqi origin in strengthening the partnership between the two countries.
