Doha: The Global Public Diplomacy Network (GPDNet) 9th General Assembly was held at the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) on Wednesday. Director-General of Katara and President of the GPDNet, Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti chaired the meeting. 19 delegations of GPDNet member countries along with a lineup of ambassadors and diplomates attended the meeting. Addressing the opening session, Al Sulaiti aid that the current session is a historic event that celebrates the network's achievements and charts new paths for the future, pointing out that the network's ninth meeting focuses on the participation of the new generation of young public diplomacy leaders, as the agenda reflects our commitment to the continuous development and activation of the youth sector. He underlined enhancing cooperation and understanding as well as exploring innovative ways to benefit from social media, to create a qualitative shift in the network, contributing to increasing its vitality and effectiveness, by studying members' in itiatives and reviewing their new and successful projects to publish them on the website. For her part, the Secretary-General of GPDNet and CEO of the Katara Center for Public Diplomacy, Maryam Al Saad, said that the joint efforts and contributions and enhancing cooperation among members paves the way towards the development and growth of the Network, pointing out that the success of the projects and initiatives that will be launched by the General Assembly meeting depends strongly on effective participation. She emphasized the importance of seizing opportunities at work and benefiting from experiences to achieve more successes. The GPDNet 9th General Assembly meetings addressed ways to enhance communication and cooperation among members of the network, in a way that contributes to activating joint work, or concluding bilateral partnerships between relevant institutions in various member countries. A host of cultural projects related to public diplomacy were also presented.
