The German government has set September 28, 2025 as the date for organizing the next general elections in the country. In its weekly session on Wednesday, the Cabinet approved this date, noting that the decision to adopt this date in its final form remains subject to the approval of the President of the country, as it is customary for the President to follow the governments recommendations. According to the Federal Election Law, the election of the 21st session of members of the German Parliament (Bundestag) must take place between August 27 and October 26, 2025. German voters voted in September 2021 to choose members of Parliament, which resulted in the selection of Olaf Schulz as the country's Chancellor, to succeed Angela Merkel, who held the position for four consecutive terms.
