Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi welcomed Monday the initiative of US President Joe Biden for a ceasefire, release of prisoners, safe return of displaced persons, withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces and humanitarian aid. Al-Budaiwi, in a press statement, praised the efforts made by Qatar and Egypt to achieve a ceasefire and halt the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip. He emphasized the importance of building upon this declaration to reach a political framework for resuming negotiations towards achieving comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy resolutions.
