Amman: Foreign Ministry's Secretary General, Majid Al-Qatarneh, met on Wednesday with UK International Development Minister Anneliese Dodds on discussing and enhancing bilateral ties. They voiced a common keenness to enhance ties through wider cooperation in all fields, especially developmental fields. The meeting covered the dangerous escalation in the region and efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. Al-Qatarneh urged the international community to take immediate and effective action to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, to continue the delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip in an adequate and sustainable manner, and to end the humanitarian catastrophe the people of Gaza are facing as a first step towards de-escalation in the region, warning of the risk of a regional war erupting and threatening the security and stability of the entire region. Al-Qatarneh and Dodds talked about the Syrian refugee crisis and how the international community should take responsibility for the refugees rathe r than just shifting the crisis to host countries alone.
