RAMALLAH: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates today welcomed the European Union's decision, adopted by the Union's foreign ministers, to impose sanctions against violent Israeli colonists in the occupied West Bank. The Ministry, in a statement, considered this decision a step "in the right direction" towards the necessity of imposing deterrent sanctions on the racist colonial occupation system, and placing terrorist colonialist organizations and militias and those behind them and supporting them from Israeli officials such as Smotrich, Ben Gvir and others on terrorist lists. The Ministry called on all countries to impose sanctions on the colonists, prosecute those who hold their nationalities, and exert real pressure on the Israeli government to stop colonization. The Ministry also called for the need to prosecute those who commit crimes against the Palestinians, their land, property, and homes. The Ministry further warned of dragging the West Bank into a spiral of violence that is difficult t o control due to the ongoing Israeli colonist violations and war crimes committed against Palestinians and their proprieties. It strongly condemned the statements made by the two extremist ministers, Smotrich and Ben Gvir, regarding the call and incitement to deepen colonialism in response to the European Union's decision. The Ministry also denounced Ben Gvir's boast that he had distributed 100,000 weapons, which means intensifying the possibilities of committing more murders against Palestinians in the West Bank.
