RAMALLAH: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates today strongly condemned the Israeli occupation's construction of a tower and the installation of surveillance cameras on the western wall of Al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied East Jerusalem. The Ministry further denounced the daily incursions taking place across the Mosque and its counteryards and Israeli`s attempts aimed at changing the historical, political, demographic and legal reality of Jerusalem. It also denounced the construction of the colonial units in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. The Ministry also condemned, in a statement, the Israeli deliberate targeting of Jerusalem and its citizens in general, and Christian and Islamic holy sites, most notably Al-Aqsa Mosque in particular, and the restrictions forced on worshipers' access to Al-Aqsa Mosque, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. It stressed that the occupation's measures are "invalid, illegal, and a flagrant violation of international law, United Nations resolutions , and UNESCO resolutions." The Foreign Ministry called for international initiations to immediately intervene to stop such violations and stop the war of genocide and ethnic cleansing committed against the Palestinian people.
