FM meets Permanent Representative of UN Women in Sana’a

The Minister of Foreign Affairs in the caretaker government, Engineer Hisham Sharaf Abdullah, discussed with the Permanent Representative of UN Women in Sana'a, Dina Zorba, the plans and activities of the UN Women office in Yemen.

In the meeting, Minister Sharaf welcomed the Permanent Representative of UN Women and the team accompanying her to Sana’a.

He stressed that women in Yemeni society have a special place and share with men the responsibility for the advancement of the country.

He explained that the Republic of Yemen was one of the first countries to participate in the discussions that took place in the United Nations General Assembly in 2010 to establish UN Women.

For her part, the Permanent Representative of UN Women in Sana'a expressed hope that the Yemeni authorities would cooperate with the efforts of the UN Women office to make its tasks successful, with full understanding of the privacy of Yemeni society.
